The Old Rectory is a Georgian manor house in Somerset located in the village of Mells close to fashionable Frome and 5 minutes’ drive from Babington House Hotel, part of the Soho House group.

The house has 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, stylish living areas and a large garden and grounds. There is private parking for up to 4 cars.

The front door opens onto a spacious hall with sweeping staircase. The large and light living room has 2 sofas, 2 armchairs and an open fire. The snooker room it totally unique, housing a wonderful collection of Frys memorabilia. There is a full-size table and open fire.

There is an informal sitting room/play room with large sofa, smart TV with play station, audio system with speakers which play in each room on the ground floor.

The modern, well equipped kitchen opens onto the dining room which comfortably seats 14 guests. This room leads straight out into the garden for evening drinks on the terrace.
The utility room has both washer and drying machine, cooker, microwave and additional dishwasher to service the outside eating area.

There is a beautiful terrace for al fresco eating with a large wooden table seating up to 14 guests. There is a BBQ and firepit.

The master bedroom is both spacious and luxurious with a king size bed and fitted wardrobes with incredible views over the garden and fields beyond. The ensuite bathroom has the same lovely views.

The second master bedroom has a more classic feel with a kingsize four poster bed and period ensuite bathroom.
Bedroom 3 is a pretty bedroom with double bed overlooking the front garden. Bedroom 4 has a double bed and additional sofa bed with views overlooking the back garden. Bedroom 3 and 4 share a large shower room with separate WC.
There is a winding staircase to the charming bedrooms on the third floor: a double aspect room with double bed and adjoining children’s single sleeping space and cottagey bathroom.

Children will love the grounds of the Old Rectory because there is so much for them to do: there is a dry riverbed in the wooded area to explore, ropes for swinging, a trampoline, apples trees and cherry trees for picking. There are football nets in the front garden and the badminton net available to be set up in the back garden.
Mells is the most picturesque village with lovely walks in all directions and pretty church. The Award winning pub The Talbot: an Elizabethan Coaching in, serves incredible food in the grill, restaurant or outside eating area. If you are looking for less formal dining the idyllic Walled Garden Café has a wood burning pizza oven or afternoon tea and cake! The village shop has a post office and well stocked shop with a small café attached and the children will love to feed the ducks at the village pond.

The nearest town is Frome, where the old streets are lined with quirky independent shops and cafes. Once a month there is a local market where stallholders sell delicicious food and homemade wares.

Bruton is also worth a visit. Home to the very cool art gallery Hauser and Wirth, an outdoor activity centre for children at Mill on the Brue and some great restaurants including Michelin starred restaurant Osip.
The Newt in Somerset is a newly opened estate with magnificent walled gardens, a glasshouse, farm shop, restaurants and cafe.

Other nearby attractions are Stonehenge, the glorious house and gardens of Stourhead. Nearby Bath has a wealth of cultural activities, shopping and restaurants.  Price on application.  Please note that the minimum rental period is 1 week.
